I'm really excited to be working on this book, and very proud that I managed to create a cover for it! I'm quickly approaching my goal of 95,000 words (currently at 64,635!) and I'm only on the twenty-third chapter! I've forced myself to study all aspects of the land I've created to make it real and believable, and a place that works like any other fantasy out there! Creating the cities, the people, the magic, the legends... It's been great fun, and I know that only one book won't do. I won't be able to mash everything together by the end. When I began "The Game", I had hoped to, but now I can see just how much creating an entire world can do to you.
Well, at least, I hope there will be more. I want to get it published so badly! I mean, I was extremely excited when someone offered to buy the copyright for it, and it's not even done yet! Only $50-200 though. Honestly, I don't care about whatever money I would get. I just don't really know much about copyright, and so I didn't want to jump into it. Still only a high-school student, anyhow. But what I do know about copyright is that you technically no longer get to decide what happens to whatever it was (a book, for example), and so if you're offered a movie deal for it (XD), it's not going to be your call. The person who holds your copyright gets the final decision. But if you own your own copyright, then you're good! And I hope to keep it!
I'm planning to write an entire notebook of stuff from "The Game", from locations, to creatures, to the ages, and possible characters, plots, etc... What I love about this--about making your own book--is that there aren't any limits. In Fan-Fic, you always have a limit. I mean, it wouldn't be plausable if Ezio Auditore da Firenze could suddenly use magic and crap rainbows, now would it? But if such a thing happened in something you created, hell, it'd pass (but I'm not so keen about crapping rainbows myself)!
I can't wait for this to be finished, hopefully by Christmas, and then I can send it in! That means, if it gets published, that I won't be able to keep it on Fic-Press any more, though I hope to be able to leave a few chapters up for those who aren't sure about reading it and want a preview. If you want to read "The Game", check out fictionpress.com and search the author, "WhiteZephyr" (that's me!) to get your easiest route to "The Game". It's free to read, and I'd love if people shared their thoughts about it!
Thanks!
